FUNFIT FAMILY FITNESS CENTER LAUNCHING TWO NEW FRANCHISES
IN LOUISIANA AND NEW YORK
MD Programs to Combat Childhood Obesity Gaining Popularity

Washington, DC (rushprnews) 10/25/2006 - In order to tackle
nationwide the growing problem of childhood obesity, Maryland-based
Funfit Family Fitness Center has opened up one new center in Lafayette,
Louisiana in the month of October, and has begun offering classes on
Long Island in New York. According to the US Surgeon General, there is
currently an epidemic of childhood obesity in the United States that
includes nine million children over the age of six, and parents are
increasingly looking for ways to accompany their children down a
healthier path. The World Health Organization`s members recently
declared that for the first time in mankind history more people
suffered from obesity than the opposite, specifically noting that the
greater problem was seen with youth with poor lifestyle and family
habits.

Celia Kibler, the founder of the Funfit had this to say, " Our focus is
the prevention of childhood obesity. At our center we offer a complete
range of fun, health and enrichment classes for kids ages 0-12 years
including our newest Funfit program MyYoga, plus music, art, kung fu,
infant massage, cheerleading and sign language that are all
family-inclusive," explains Kibler," and we are hoping that this
step-by-step nationwide expansion is going to have a positive and
far-reaching impact on our nation's children. Our goal is to expand
into every state, while being careful to meet the specific needs of
each region".

All licensees will go through a full twenty-five hour training to
successfully conduct our classes as well as our parties. The
outstanding reputation that Funfit prides itself with, will continue
with every center that is opened and all licensees will hold the same
desires and beliefs for the healthy future of our children and
families. Maddi Cheers, now teaching MyYoga on Long Island in New York
and the owner of a franchise had this to say, "When I was approached by
KidEsteem, a new center for all kids with all needs, to conduct fitness
classes for their clientele, Funfit's MyYoga was a natural fit. Working
with kids that have anxiety and stress, MyYoga classes help each child
conquer their issues through relaxation, focus and stretching
techniques that build confidence and bring comfort to each
participant."

Amy Kiddy, owner of the Funfit Family Fitness Center in Lafayette,
Louisiana holds a maters degree in Nutrition, as well as a Nursing
Degree. She officially opened for business on September 28th of this
year. Amy looked around at many different programs made available in
the industry and chose Funfit for its focus on making physical activity
enjoyable to a generation of kids who would much rather watch
television, play videogames or surf the net. Once decided on a
franchise, another factor she considered in opening up a center was the
lack of options for kids in her district. Kiddy offers this
explanation, "Lafayette was not offering any programs of value for
children, you will not find here a GYMBOREE or MYGYM and the local
YMCA is focusing on other social issues".

According to Amy Kiddy, "The concept of Funfit is to involve the whole
family, by offering programs fun for kids that include parent
participation too. Our classes for older kids (5 and up) even
incorporate a nutrition discussion. I feel that even if they only go
home with one or two elements introduced, it is a giant step in the
right direction". She goes on to add," A lot of our kids don't like
sports and with Funfit they remain active while having fun. Kids don't
think of it as a chore, as they often do with mandatory gym classes at
school." It has been proven that in most cases, the very best defense
against a health problem is an immediate and positive preventive
approach. One including good nutrition, joyful physical activity and a
positive self-image will naturally lead to a healthier body and mind
and that is what the children of this great nation deserve.
